Energy Balance
Part of any healthy lifestyle is correcting a 'mismatch' in your diet and level of activity. Dietary intake of calories in food and drink provide you the energy to live and be active. Too many calories causes energy imbalance in your body and your body will convert that energy into fat - a stored energy system to prevent starvation. Calories from sugar and carbohydrates can be converted to unhealthy fat stores in your body more readily than calories from excess protein intake.
